Application, Fees and Starter Package

How do I register for the 20. PKO Poznan Marathon?
By filling out the application form on the website https://runner.marathon.poznan.pl?lang=en.
The second method is to submit the application personally at the competition office, which is located at the headquarters of the Poznań Sports and Recreation Centers, 34 Spychalskiego St, 61-553 Poznań. The office is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 16:00. Please note: cash registers are open until 15:00.
When is a deadline for applications?
The deadline for online applications is October 17. 2019 or after reaching the limit of paid applications. On October 18 and 19, 2019 applications and fees will be accepted only in the Marathon Office during its opening hours: from 10.00 to 20.00 (Poznań International Fair, Hall No. 3). After 19.10.2019, applications will not be accepted.
How much is the registration fee?
  • applications paid until April 30, 2019. – 120 PLN
  • applications paid from May 1 to June 30, 2019. – 140 PLN
  • applications paid from July 1 to September 13, 2019. – 160 PLN
  • applications paid from September 14 to October 17, 2019. – 200 PLN
  • applications paid on October 18 -19, 2019. – 220 PLN
When is a deadline for payment?
  • applications made until April 30, 2019. (with a starter fee of PLN 120) should be paid by April 30, 2019.
  • applications made between May 1 to June 30, 2019. (with a starting fee of PLN 140) should be paid by June 30, 2019.
  • applications made between July 1 to September 13, 2019. (with a starting fee of PLN 160) should be paid by September 13, 2019.
  • applications made between September 14 to October 17, 2019. (with a starting fee of PLN 200) should be paid by September 13, 2019.
  • applications made on October 18-19, 2019.(with a starting fee of PLN 220) must be paid in cash at the time of purchasing the starter package at the Marathon Office at the International Poznań Fair.
How do I make a payment for participation in the Marathon?
Every runner, after registering for the run, is automatically redirected to the PayU website. There you can choose different payment methods. It is also possible to pay the starting fee in cash in person at the Organizer’s office.
May I register today and pay the registration fee later on?
Yes. After signing up for the race, each runner receives an e-mail return information on how to log in to their individual profile, where it is possible to go to the „Payment” tab and settle the payment for the run. Runners with an unpaid account are not taken into account by the Organizer as participants in the run. The amount of the starting fee is determined by the date of making the transfer / postal order, and not the date of registration for the run.
When is the bib number assigned and how can this be checked?
The system automatically transmits the first available number from the pool of numbers right after the entry fee is posted. Immediately an email notification of the number is sent to the contestant.
At any time you can check your bib number on the starting list and on your runner profile after logging in. If a bib number appears on the list with the name displayed or there is a green tile with the word „paid” on the profile, it means that the start fee has been credited.
Will I receive a refund of the entry fee if I resign from the start?
No. Once paid, the registration fee is not subject to return and transfer to the events organised by the Organiser within the subsequent years.
What if I made a payment and my name is still not on the Competitors List and there is no „Paid” on my Runner Profile?

Is providing an e-mail address necessary?
Providing an e-mail address is obligatory. A confirmation of the notification along with information on how to log in to the participant’s individual profile is sent to the e-mail address provided, and after payment of the starting fee, a confirmation of the bib number is sent.
Can the under age of 18 runners start in the 20. PKO Poznań Marathon?
No. The right to start in the Marathon is granted only to the persons who at the latest on 20th October 2019 turn 18 years old.
Are people starting for the first time in Poznań Marathon exempt from the registration fee?
No. The right to a free start is only for:

  • competitors who have completed all 19 Marathons in Poznan,
  • wheelchair users,
  • competitors who in the 19th PKO Poznań Marathon took in the age categories of places I-III,
  • persons taking part in the Marathon on the basis of separate agreements concluded by Poznań Sports and Recreation Centres,
  • competitors exempted from the entry fee by the Poznań Sports and Recreation Centres Director on the written request (individual cases),,
  • visually impaired and blind participants taking part in the Mistrzostwa Polski Osób Niewidomych i Słabowidzących organised by the Physical Education, Sport and Tourism Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted “CROSS” in Warsaw
  • the winners of competitions conducted by the Organizer, Partners, Sponsors, in which the reward was the exemption from the entry fee,
  • official pacemakers,
  • contract competitors,
  • honorary guests taking part in the race at the invitation of the Organizer
Are there any discounts on the entry fee?
Yes.

  • The runners who are 60 years old or older get 50% discount on application fee (they are not entitled to the other discounts).
  • The owners of the National Large Family Card with the territorial code of the city of Poznań have the right to a 25% discount on the entry fee. Large Family cards from other cities do not entitle you to a 25% discount.
Is there an additional fee for measuring the time?
No. The time measurement fee is included in the start fee. The timing chip is single use and must be returned.
Is there a limit on the number of starting competitors?
Yes. The limit of the paid applications is of 6 000 persons. After exceeding this number, further submissions will not be accepted.
Where do I pick up my start package and what are the opening hours?
The starter package can be picked up at the Marathon Office, which will be located in Hall 3 of the Poznań International Fair MTP, at 14 Głogowska St. Poznan.
The Marathon Office will be open during the following hours:
18.10.2019r. (Friday) from 10:00 to 20:00.
19.10.2019r. (Saturday) from 10:00 to 20:00.
Can I pick up my starter package on the day of the Marathon?
Unfortunately not. The Marathon Office is closed on the day of the run.
What do I need to have with me to pick up my starter package?
All you need is an ID card or printed start card. Each runner will have access to their starting card on their individual profile on www.marathon.poznan.pl from October 11, 2019 from 11:00 am.
What should I do if I can not pick up the starter package myself?
Give your printed and signed start card or photocopied / scanned ID card to the person who will receive the package for you.
What does the starter package contain?
The starter package contains: an envelope with a bib number, safety pins, a sticker with a number for a deposit / cloakroom bag, a garment bag for a deposit, a sports bag, a t-shirt, a time measuring chip, a pasta party voucher, sponsorship materials of the general sponsor PKO Bank Polski.

Transport and Accommodation

How do I get to the Marathon Office?

Are competitors entitled to a discount on PKP train trips and public transport?
The participants of the Marathon do not have a discount on the PKP, however, based on the start number and identity card, they have the right to use public transport free of charge in the A + B + C zones on 18-20.10.2019.
Does the organizer provide free accommodation?
Yes. The organizer provides free accommodation on the night of 19/20 October 2019. for the first 600 people declaring free accommodation in sports halls in the application. The halls are located on 34 Spychalskiego St. 61-553 Poznan. The condition is to mark the „Accommodation booking” option in the application form. Competitors will be accepted on the basis of the bib number for the night. The organizer does not provide sleeping bags or mat, but provides toilets and showers.
What if I did not check the „Booking of free accommodation” option in the application form and I want to use it?
All you need to do is inform Marathon Office by phone +48 61 835 79 17 or email info@marathon.poznan.pl. As long as there are free spaces in the sports hall, there will be no obstacles to use the free accommodation.
How to get to the place of free accommodation?

Does the organizer provide a transfer to the Start from the place of free accommodation?
Participants using free accommodation will be taken at the Marathon Start by the buses substituted by the organizer. Departure times: 6:30 and 7:30
Does the Organizer Office book hotel rooms for runners?
No. Paid accommodation should be booked independently. The recommended places can be found in the Runner Zone → Accommodation section of the Marathon website.

Start and the Running Route

What time does the Marathon start?
at 8.50 – wheelchair users,
at 9.00 – runners
Where will the Start of the Marathon be located?
On Grunwaldzka Street, close to the Sheraton Poznan Hotel.
What is the time limit to complete the Marathon?
The time limit for overcoming the Marathon is 6 hours. The Marathon route will be closed to vehicular traffic until 15:30. Competitors who do not finish the run by 15:30 are obliged to stop the run and reach the finish line by a minibus with the inscription „End of Marathon”.
Is special medical examination required to participate in the Marathon?
No. Each runner takes part in the Marathon at his own risk. Nevertheless, we suggest you carry out medical examinations before starting preparations and before the Marathon itself.
Where will the changing rooms for participants be located?
Locker rooms will be located in Hall 3A at the Poznań International Fair.
Do competitors receive registered personal bib numbers?
Yes, each participant will receive a personal bib number.
Where should the bib number be pinned?
In the visible place:
on the chest (to the shirt / top, with safety pins)
or to a special belt worn on the hip.
Runners with a number pinned elsewhere may be disqualified. The organizer does not agree to start a person with a bib number assigned to another runner.
Do you have to start wearing a T-shirt from the starter package?
No, it is not necessary.
What is a chip?
The chip is an electronic device used to measure time, attached to the shoelace of the runner’s shoe. Time measurement begins when the start line is crossed and ends when the finish line is reached. In addition, there are split times recorded on: 5 km, 10 km, 15 km, 20 km, 21,097 km, 25 km, 30 km, 35 km, 40 km. Lack of reading from the chip at any of the checkpoints may result in disqualification.
Where do I attach the chip?
We attach the chip on any leg: below the ankle, preferably on the shoe laces. Chip pinned elsewhere may not be registered by measuring devices. The Organizer is not responsible for this situation.
What is the gun time?
This is the time measured from the starter’s shot until the runner crosses the finish line.
What is the net time?
This is the time measured from the moment the starting line passes by until the competitor crosses the finish line.
Who is a pacemaker?
Pacemaker is a person who runs the run from the start to the finish (usually at a single pace) for a limited time. The task of pacemakers is to help all willing competitors to get to the finish at the intended time. Most often, pacemakers lead to the following times: 3:00, 3:15, 3:30, 3:45, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30, 4:45, 5:00.
How do I recognize a pacemaker?
Each of the pacemakers will be dressed in a characteristic T-shirt and a high-colored green flag with a white sign indicating the planned net time.
Can wheelchair people start in 20. PKO Poznań Marathon?
Yes.
Can rollers start in the 20. PKO Poznań Marathon?
No.
Can I run with a dog?
Yes, but it must be on a leash.
Can I run with a „jogger”?
Yes, but set yourself in the further starting zone so as not to hinder the run of faster runners.
Can I run with headphones?
Yes, provided you pay attention to the other runners so that you do not disturb them.
Will it be possible to buy sport supplements on the day of the run near the start area of the Marathon?
Yes, stands with sports equipment (including nutrients) will be at the Poznań Sport Expo.
Can I put my own nutrients on the nutrition points?
No.
What will be served on nutrition points?
Water, bananas, sugar, chocolate and isotonic drink.
How far will nutrition points be located from each other?
Nutrition points will be located approximately every 5 km.
How does the route run?
In the Route tab you will find a complete set of information on this subject.
How will the distance on the route be marked?
Each kilometer is marked with vertical and horizontal marking on the route.
What to do and how to behave when someone faints or succumbs to an accident on the Marathon route?
If you see a participant who has fallen over or lies down the road, stop and ask if he needs help. If so, stay with him and call for help. There is medical help at each nutritional point, and an ambulance moves along the route. The back of each bib number should contain the necessary details about the runner, including contact with the family. The reverse side also has a number for the medical services. If the need arises, do not hesitate to give first aid!
Will it be possible to have a massage along the route and at the finish line?
Yes. Field massage points will be located on the route every 5 kilometers. In the finish zone, the massage point will be located in Hall 3A at Poznań International Fair.
Can anyone ride next to me on a bike along the route?
No. Cycling on the route is forbidden.

Finish and results

Where can I find the results of the run?
On the website in the Results tab. The unofficial results of the Marathon will be posted immediately after the run, and the official final announcement will be published after the final anti-doping tests results.
Will I get my time result by text message?
Yes, every person who will give a valid mobile number in the application form will receive their result via SMS.
Will a diploma and final results be sent to the home address of each runner?
No. Diplomas will be available for download after receiving the official anti-doping tests results only on the http://FotoMaraton.pl website. The final message (results) will be available on the website of the Marathon https://marathon.poznan.pl/en/.
Do I have to return a chip after the run?
Yes. The timing chip is returned at special points in the finish zone.
Do runners get free meal and drinks after the run in the finish area?
Yes, each player on the basis of the bib number receives:

  • in the finish zone: a regeneration meal and drinks
  • after leaving the finish zone: a warm meal and drinks
Will I be able to use the shower after the run?
Yes. Each competitor can use the showers located in Hall 3A at the Poznań International Fair.
What prizes can you win?
Cash and in-kind prizes will be awarded in many categories. Details in the Regulations, item XIV.
Do I pay tax on the cash prize?
Yes. Prize winners are deducted income tax in accordance with the applicable regulations.
How are the cash prizes paid out?
The condition for receiving a cash prize is the completion the necessary forms required by the tax office and delivery to the office of the Organizer within a deadline of 30 days from the date of the end of the event. After obtaining the final anti-doping tests results, the prizes will be paid only by Bank transfer to the indicated personal bank account of the competitor (prizes will not be paid in cash).
Will photos from the run be posted for free download on the website of the Marathon?
No. All photos of competitors will be available on http://FotoMaraton.pl. Image download is a paid service. The organizer will post selected photos on the fan page of the Marathon on the facebook social network.

Are the runners insured in the Marathon?
Yes, every competitor on the run is covered by accident insurance.
I have comments about the run, who and how to pass it?
The simplest method is to send an email to the following address: info@marathon.poznan.pl. We read every message, we follow sent opinions, every idea is valuable to us. Possible protests may be sent within 3 days of the end of the event.
Is the voucher for Pasta Party payable?
No. The Pasta Party fee is included in the start fee.
Where and when is Pasta Party held?
Pasta Party will take place on Saturday, October 19, 2019, from 12.00 to 20.00 in Hall 3 at the Poznań International Fair.
How to recognize the service staff of the Marathon?
The organizers will be dressed in the same shirts or sweatshirts with the words „Poznań Marathon Team” and will have an identifier with the word „Organizer” hanging around their neck.
