Application & Fees

How do I register for the 19. PKO Poznań Marathon?
By filling out the application form on the website https://runner.marathon.poznan.pl/
The second method is to submit the application personally at the competition office, which is located at the headquarters of the Poznań Sports and Recreation Centers, ul. Spychalskiego 34 in Poznań. The office is open every day from Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 16:00. Please note: cash registers are open until 15:00.
What is a deadline for applications ?
The deadline for online applications is October 11. 2018 or after reaching the limit of applications. On October 12 and 13, 2018. applications and fees will be accepted only in the Marathon Office during its opening hours, i.e. from 10.00 to 20.00 (MTP, Hall No. 3). After 13.10.2017, applications will not be accepted.
How much is the registration fee?
  • applications until July 31, 2018 – PLN 120
  • applications from 1 August 2018. until September 30 – PLN 150
  • applications from 1 – 13 October 2018. – PLN 200

Persons over 60 years old are entitled to a 50% discount on the starting fee (these players no longer have the right to other discounts). Persons with the „Poznan PRO Family – Large Family Card” card are entitled to a 25% discount on the start fee. To persons who have set up an Internet profile at www.maraton.poznan.pl simultaneously at the 11th PKO Poznań Half Marathon and at the 19th PKO Poznań Marathon and paid the starting fee at the 11th PKO Poznań Half Marathon is entitled to a 20% discount on the 19 PKO Poznan Marathon starting fee.

What is a deadline for payment?
  • Applications made until July 31 (with a starting fee of PLN 120) must be paid by July 31.
  • Applications filed between August 1, 2018. – 30 September 2018 (with a starter fee of PLN 150) to be paid by September 30, 2018.
  • Applications made between 1 and 11 October 2018. (with a starting fee of PLN 150) to be paid by October 11, 2018.
  • Applications made on October 12 and 13 (with a starting fee of PLN 200) must be paid in cash at the time of purchasing the starter package at the Competition Office at the Poznań International Fair.
How do I make a payment for participation in the 19 PKO Poznań Marathon?
Every runner, after registering for the run, is automatically redirected to the PayU website. There you can choose different payment methods. It is also possible to pay the starting fee in cash in person at the organizer’s office.
May I register today and pay the registration fee later on?
Yes. After signing up for the run, each runner receives an e-mail back information on how to log in to your individual profile. The starting fee should be paid within 7 days from the time of recording. If the payment is not received within 7 days, the account is no longer active. To reactivate them, go to the „payment” tab in the player’s profile. Players with an inactive and unpaid account are not taken into account by the organizer as participants in the run.
When is the start number assigned and how can this be checked?
The system automatically transmits the first available number from the pool of numbers right after the entry fee is posted. Immediately an email notification of the number is sent to the contestant. At any time, you can check your starting number on the start list and on your runner profile after logging in. If a starting number appears on the list with the name displayed or there is a green tile on the profile with the words „paid”, it means that the starting fee has been credited.
Will I get my registration fee back if I resign from participation in the 19 PKO Poznań Marathon?
No. According to the regulations, the fee paid once is not refundable or transferred to another player and other events organized by POSiR.

Is providing an e-mail address necessary?
Providing an e-mail address is obligatory. A confirmation of the notification along with information on how to log in to the participant’s individual profile is sent to the e-mail address provided, and after payment of the fee, a confirmation of the start number is sent.
Are people starting for the first time in PKO Poznań Marathon exempt from the registration fee?
No. The right to a free start is only for:

  • players who have completed all 18 marathons in Poznań („Poznań Marathon”),
  • wheelchair users,
  • competitors who in the 18th PKO Poznań Marathon took places in the age categories of places I-III,
  • persons competing in the Marathon on the basis of separate agreements or agreements concluded by POSiR,
  • competitors dismissed by the Director of POSiR,
  • individual random cases on a written request,
  • blind and visually impaired persons taking part in the 7th Polish Championships for the Blind and Visually Impaired (Organizer: Association of Physical Culture of Sport and Tourism for the Blind and Visually Impaired CROSS in Warsaw),
  • winners of competitions conducted by the Organizer, Partners, Sponsors, in which the reward was the exemption from the entry fee,
  • pacemakers,
  • contract competitors,
  • honorary guests taking part in the race at the invitation of the Organizer.
Why do not I get a 20% discount on my runner profile for participation in the 11th PKO Poznań Half Marathon?
The discount for participation in the 11th PKO Poznań Half Marathon is calculated on the fulfillment of two conditions:

  • when signing up for the 11th PKO Poznań Half Marathon, an account was created for both the 11th PKO Poznań Half Marathon and the 19th PKO Poznań Marathon
  • a fee was paid for participation in the 11th PKO Poznań Half Marathon.

Persons to whom the starting number was handed over are considered to have paid off in the 11th PKO Poznań Half Marathon.

Is there an additional fee for measuring the time?
No. The time measurement fee is included in the start fee. The timing chip is single use and must be returned.
Is there a limit on the number of starting competitors?
Yes. The limit is 8,000 paid applications. After exceeding this number, further submissions will not be accepted.
Where do I pick up my start package and what are the opening hours?
The starter pack can be picked up at the race office, which on October 12 and 13, 2018. is located in the Marathon Office in Hall no. 3 of the Poznań International Fair, at ul. Głogowska 14. The competition office is open in the following hours: 12.10.2018r. (Friday) from 10:00 to 20:00. 13.10.2018r. (Saturday) from 10:00 to 20:00.
Can I pick up my start package on the day of the 19. PKO Poznań Marathon?
No. On the day of the race, the competition office is closed.
What do I have to take with me to pick up my start package?
All you need is an ID card or printed start card. Each player will have access to their starting card on their individual profile from October 5 2018 from 11.00.
How do I get my start card?
The start card is available on the player’s individual profile from October 5. from 11:00 am. It should be printed and taken with you in order to collect the starter package.
Can I pick up my start package if I lost my start card?
Yes. You must, however, have an identity document with you.
What should I do if I can not pick up the starter package myself?
Give your printed start card or photocopy/scan of your ID to the person who will receive the package for you.
What does the starter package contain?
The starter package includes: start number, safety pins, number for the deposit / cloakroom bag, clothing bag for the deposit, sports bag, 4F brand technical jersey, time measurement chip, Pasta Party voucher, promotional materials of the sponsor PKO Bank Polski.

Are competitors entitled to a discount on PKP train and public transport?
Participants of the Marathon don’t have a discount on the Polish State Railways, however, based on the start number and identity card, they have the right to free public transport in the A + B + C zones on 12 – 14.10.2018.
Does the organizer provide free accommodation?
Yes. The organizer provides free accommodation on the night of 13/14 October 2018. for the first 600 people declaring in the application free accommodation .Location in sports halls at ul. Spychalskiego 34. The condition is to mark the „Accommodation booking” option in the application form. Players will be accepted on the basis of the starting number for the night. The organizer does not provide sleeping bags or a mat.
What if I did not check the „Booking of free accommodation” option in the application form and I want to use it?
All you need to do is inform Competition Office by phone or email. As long as there are free spaces in the sports hall, there will be no obstacles to use the free accommodation.
How to get to the place of free accommodation?

Does the organizer provide a transfer to the Start from the place of free accommodation?
Participants using free accommodation will be taken at the Marathon Start by the buses substituted by the organizer. Departure times: 6:30 and 7:30.
Does the Organizer book hotel rooms for runners?
No. Paid accommodation should be booked independently. You can find the recommended places in the Accommodation tab on the Marathon website.

Start and the course

What time does the 19. PKO Poznań Marathon start?
Start of wheelchair competitors – 8:50. Start of runners 09:00.
Where is the Start line?
On Grunwaldzka Street, close to the Sheraton Poznań Hotel.
Who is a pacemaker?
Pacemaker is a person who runs the Marathon from the start to the finish (usually at a single pace) for a limited time. The task of pacemakers is to help all willing competitors to get to the finish at the intended time. Most often, pacemakers lead to the following times: 3:00, 3:15, 3:30, 3:45, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30, 4:45, 5:00.
How do I recognize a pacemaker?
Each of the pacemakers will be dressed in a characteristic T-shirt and a tall flag with time.
Where are the changing rooms for the participants?
Changing rooms are located in Hall 3A at the Poznań International Fair.
Will I buy sports supplements on the day of the Marathon nearby the start area?
Yes. Stands with sports equipment (including nutrients) will be available at the Poznań Sport Expo.
What is the time limit to complete the Marathon?
The time limit for overcoming the Marathon is 6 hours. The Marathon route is closed to vehicular traffic until 15:15. Competitors who do not finish the race by 15:15 are obliged to stop the race and reach the finish line by a minibus with the inscription „End of Marathon”.
Where do I attach the chip?
We attach the chip below the ankle, on the shoe laces. Chip pinned elsewhere may not be recognized and „read” by the measuring device. The Organizer is not responsible for this situation.
Where do I attach the bib number?
In the visible place:

  • On the chest (to the shirt / top, with safety pins)
  • Or to a special belt worn on the hip.

People with a number pinned elsewhere may be disqualified. The organizer does not agree to start a person with a starting number assigned to another runner.

Do I have to run in a T-shirt from the starter package?
No, it is not necessary.

What to do and how to behave when someone faints or succumbs to an accident on the Marathon route?
If you see a participant who has fallen over or lies down the road, stop and ask if he needs help. If so, stay with him and call for help. There is medical help at each nutritional point, and an ambulance moves along the route. The back of each starting number should contain the necessary details about the player, including contact with the family. If the need arises, do not be afraid to give first aid!
What will be served on nutritional points?
Water, bananas, sugar, chocolate and isotonic drink.
How far will nutritional points be located from each other?
Nutritious points will be located approximately every 5 km. Tables on nutritional points are arranged in order:

  • Table nr. 1 – water
  • Table nr. 2 – an isotonic drink
  • Table nr. 3 – bananas, sugar, chocolate
  • Table nr. 4 – water
  • Table nr. 5 – isotonic drink
How will the distance on the route be marked?
On the route, every kilometer is marked with a vertical sign.
Is it allowed to leave my own nutrition products at nutritional points?
Unfortunately, this is not possible.
Will it be possible to have a massage along the route and the finish line?
Yes. The field massage points are located on the route every 5 kilometers. In the finish zone, the massage point is located in hall 3A.

Finish and results

Where can I find race results?
The results of the Marathon are posted in the Results tab. Unofficial results of the Marathon are posted immediately after the run. The official final statement is prepared after obtaining the final anti-doping test results.
Do runners get free meal and drinks after the race in the finish area?
Yes, each player on the basis of the starting number receives: – in the finish zone – a regeneration meal and drinks, – after leaving the finish zone – a warm meal.
Will I have an opportunity to have a shower after the race?
Yes. Each competitor can use the showers located in Hall 3A at the Poznań International Fair.
Will I get my time result by text message?
Yes, every person who gives a valid mobile number in the application form receives his / her result by SMS.
Do I return a chip after the race?
Yes. The timing chip is returned at special points in the finish zone.
Do I pay tax on the cash prize?
Yes. Prizewinners are deducted income tax in accordance with the applicable regulations.
How are the cash prizes paid out?
The condition for receiving a cash prize is the completion and delivery to the office of the organizer all the necessary forms required by the tax office, within a deadline of 30 days from the date of the end of the event. The prizes will be paid only by bank transfer to the indicated personal bank account of the competitor after obtaining the final anti-doping tests results. (Prizes will not be paid in cash).
Will a diploma and final results be sent to the home address of each player?
No. Diplomas will be available for download after receiving the official anti-doping tests results on the FotoMaraton.pl website.
Will there be free pictures from the run for download on the Marathon website?
No. All photos of competitors will be available on FotoMaraton.pl. Image download is a paid service. The organizer will post selected photos on the Marathon fan page.

Where is the Poznań Sport Expo located?
Right next to the Competition Office, in Hall 3 at the Poznań International Fair at 14 Głogowska St. More information is available in the „Poznań Sport Expo” Trade Fairs.
Do runners have an insurance guaranteed?
Yes, every competitor on the race route is covered by accident insurance (NNW).
What are the prizes?
In many categories, cash and in-kind prizes will be awarded. Details in the Marathon regulations point XIV.
Who and how to give comments on the subject of the run?
The simplest method is to send an email to: info@marathon.poznan.pl. We read every message, we follow sent opinions, every idea is valuable to us. Possible protests may be sent within 3 days of the end of the event.
Can the under age of 18 runners start in the 19. PKO Poznan Marathon
No. Pursuant to the regulations, the right to take off is given to persons who reach the age of 18 on or before October 14, 2018.
Are the medical check-ups required before the race?
No. Each player takes part in the Marathon at his own risk. Nevertheless, we suggest you carry out medical examinations before starting preparations and before the Marathon itself.
What is the gun time?
This is the time measured from the starter’s shot until the player crosses the finish line.
What is the net time?
This is the time measured from the moment the starting line passes by until the competitor crosses the finish line.
Do competitors receive registered personal start numbers?
Yes, each participant will receive a personal starting number.
What is a chip?
The chip is an electronic device used to measure time, attached to the shoelace of the runner’s shoe. Time measurement begins when the start line is crossed and ends when the finish line is over. In addition, on the route every 5 km there are lapses registered.
Is the voucher for Pasta Party payable?
No. The Pasta Party fee is included in the start payment.
Can wheelchair people start in 19 PKO Poznań Marathon?
Yes of course.
Can rollers take part in the 19 PKO Poznań Marathon?
Unfortunately not.
Can you run with a dog?
Yes of course.
Can anyone ride next to me on a bike along the route?
No. The movement of bicycles on the route is forbidden.
Can you run with headphones?
Yes, provided you pay attention to the other runners so that you do not disturb them.
Is it possible to run with a „jogger”?
Yes, but set yourself in the further starting zone so as not to disturb the faster runners.
