Application & Fees

How do I register for the 17.PKO Poznań Marathon?

To register for the 17.PKO Poznań Marathon, fill in a registration form on our website.

You can also register in person at the Marathon Office located in Poznań Sports and Recreation Centres (Head Office building) at 34 Chwiałkowskiego Street in Poznań, open Monday to Friday, 8:00-16:00. Be aware that a cash register is open until 15:00.

What is a deadline for applications?

Deadline for applications is 08.10.2016 or once the limit is reached.

What is the registration fee?

100 PLN – when paid until 30 September 2016
200 PLN – when paid between 1 – 8 October 2016

Runners who are 60 years old or older get a 50% discount on registration fee. Runners who completed all 16 Poznań Marathons are exempted from the fee.

What is a deadline for registration fee payments?

30 September 2016 – when registered by 30 September and paid 100 PLN
8 October 2016 – when registered between 1-8 October and paid 200 PLN

What is the payment procedure like?

After the registration is completed you are redirected right away to the funds transfer PayU website. You have a wide choice of payment methods to choose from there.
You can also pay the registration fee at the cash register at the Organizer’s offce.

May I register for the Marathon and pay the registration fee later?

Yes, you can. After registration being made, you get the logins to your individual profile on the marathon website by email. You have time then to pay the registration fee within 7 days since the registration. After this time your profile becomes inactive. You can reactivate it in your profile, in PAYMENT section. A person who hasn’t paid the fee and has an inactive profile, is not treated as the 17. PKO Poznań Marathon contestant by the Organizer.

When do I get a bib number and how can I check it?

Computer system assigns a next free bib number to you after getting the confirmation on paid registration fee from the bank. Then computer system sends automatically an email to your email address with information on your bib number.

You can always check your bib number on the Competitors List on our website. If there is a bib number next to your name, it means that we have received your payment.

Will I get my registration fee back if I resign from participation in the Marathon?

No, you won’t. According to the Marathon Regulations, registration fee is non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another participant or any other event organized by Poznań Sports and Recreation Centres.

What should I do if there is no my name on the Competitors List?

Remember that your name is added to the Competitors List after we get the registration fee.

What should I do if I paid the registration fee and there is still no my name on the Competitors List?

When your name still doesn’t appear on the Competitors List after you have paid the registration fee, inform the Marathon Office about it by email (info@marathon.poznan.pl) or by phone (+48 61 835 79 17).

Is it necessary to give my email address?

Giving your email address is obligatory. We send a registration confirmation, logins to your website profile and information on your bib number by email. There is also a link to your personal start card that you can print from 3 October 2016. You will need the start card to collect your start package.

Are the runners participating in the Marathon for the first time exempted from paying the registration fee?

No, they are not. Only runners who completed all 16 Poznań Marathons and wheelchair users don’t pay the registration fee.

Do I pay extra fee for time measurement?

No, you don’t. This fee is included in the registration fee. Chip is reusable and must be returned.

Is there a limit of applications?

Yes, there is. Limit of applications is 8 000. Once the limit is reached, we won’t accept any new applications.

Where do I pick up my start package and what are the opening hours?

Pick up your start package on 7 and 8 October 2016 at the Marathon Office located in hall no 3 at the Poznań International Fair (14 Głogowska Street).
The opening hours are as follows:
7.10.2016 (Friday) 10:00 – 20:00
8.10.2016 (Saturday) 10:00 – 20:00

Can I pick up my start package on the day of the Marathon?

No, you cannot. On the day of the race the Marathon Office is closed.

What do I have to take with me to pick up my start package?

You should have a start card with you. This card is sent to you by email, after you have paid a registration fee. You can print it off after 3 October 2016.

How do I get my start card?

You get an access to your start card on your profile in FILES TO DOWNLOAD section from 3 October 2016. You should print it off, sign and take with you when you come to collect your start package. Remember that the start card with no health declaration signed is invalid.

Can I pick up my start package if I lost my start card?

Yes, you can. You can collect your start card upon presenting your ID.

What should I do if I cannot pick up my start package personally?

Sign your start card and give it to the person who collects the start package for you. If you don’t have a start card, give to this person a signed form saying that you agree to start at your own responsibility.

What does the start package consist of?

The start package consists of: a bib number + safety pins, cloakroom number, T-shirt and deposit bag for your belongings.

Do runners get a discount on train transport?

No, there is no discount on national train service.

Does the Organizer provide free accommodation?

Yes, he does. The Organizer provides all willing participants with free accommodation from 8 October to 9 October at the sports halls, at 34 Chwiałkowskiego Street. Due to a limited space, only first 900 runners, who thick “Free accommodation” box in the registration form, are accepted. The Organizer does not provide mattresses or sleeping bags.

What to do if I didn’t thick “Free accommodation” box in my registration form and still would like to get it?

Don’t worry. You still can get free accommodation. Call the Marathon Office or write an email. We’ll make a reservation for you if the booking list is not full.

Does the Organizer provide transport from the sports halls (free accommodation) to the Start?

Buses take the runners staying at free accommodation to the Start. Departure times are: 6:30 and 7:30.

Does the Organizer book hotel rooms for runners?

No, he doesn’t. You should book chargeable accommodation by yourselve. The list of recommended accommodation is in sectionACCOMMODATION.

Will I find a list of cheap accommodation on your website?

Yes, you will. Go to section ACCOMMODATION, where you’ll find a list of cheap places to stay overnight. When you book a room, quote “Marathon” to get a discount.

Where is the Start line?

At Grunwaldzka Street.

Who is a pacemaker?

A pacemaker helps runners get their goal times, by leading them from start to finish (usually) at the same pace. The runners are divided into groups going for the following times: 3:00, 3:15, 3:30, 3:45, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30.

How do I recognize a pacemaker?

Pacemakers wear a characteristic colourful T-shirt and a balloon indicating the goal time.

Where are the cloakrooms for runners?

Cloakrooms are located in hall 3A at the Poznań International Fair.

Will I buy sports supplements on the day of the Marathon nearby the start zone?

No, you won’t. You can buy sports supplements at the Poznań Sport Expo.

What is the time limit to complete the Marathon?

Time limit for the race completion is 6 hours. The Marathon route is closed for car traffic until 15:15. Runners who do not finish the Marathon until 15:15 are obliged to discontinue running and reach the Finish by the bus marked “Marathon finish”.

Where do I attach the chip?

Chip must be attached to a shoelace of your training shoe below ankle.

Where do I attach the bib number?

Your bib number should be attached to your t-shirt with safety pins on your chest. It is not allawed to run with somebody’s else bib number.

Do I have to run in a T-shirt from the start package?

No, you don’t have to.

What is a race route?

All information on the race route is in section COURSE.

How can I help an injured runner?

If you see a fellow runner felling over or laying down on the street, stop and ask, if he needs any help. If he does, stay with him and call for help. There is a medical help at all nutrition points and an ambulance going along the race route. There is information on the runner at the back of his start number, including contact details with his family. Don’t be afraid to give first aid, if needed!

What is at nutrition points?

Water, bananas, sugar, chocolate, isotonic beverages.

At what distance between each other are nutrition points located?

Nutrition points are located every 5 km or so.
Tables at the nutrition points are arranged as follows:
first one – water for sponges,
second one – water,
third one – isotonic,
fourth one – bananas, sugar, oranges and chocolate,
fifth one – water,
sixth one – isotonic.

What distances will be marked along the route?

Each kilometre of the route is marked.

Is it allowed to leave my own nutrition products at nutrition points?

No, it is not.

Will I get a massage along the route or at the Finish?

Yes, you will. Field massage points are located every 5 km along the route. Massage area at the Finish is located in hall 3A.

Finish and results

Where can I find race results?

Unofficial results will be posted on the website www.marathon.poznan.pl. in section RESULTS within 24h after the race. Official results will be posted on the same website within 30 days after receiving a report from the Commission against Doping in Sport.

Do runners get free food and drinks after the race in the Finish zone?

Yes, they do. Upon presenting a bib number, runners get:
In the Finish zone: isotonic beverages, water, fruit, beer and tea.
Outside the Finish zone (hall 3A): hot meal.

Will I have an opportunity to have a shower after the race?

Yes, you will. Runners may have a shower in hall 3A at the Poznań International Fair.

Will the photos from the race be posted on the Marathon’s website ready to download free of charge?

Yes, they will, but not for free. Runners‘ photos will be posted on FotoMaraton.pl. Downloading is chargeable.

Will I get my time result by a text message?

Yes, you will. Everyone who gives his mobile number in the registration form gets his time result by a text message.

Will you send a diploma and my time result to my home address?

No, we won’t. Diplomas are ready to download from the website FotoMaraton.pl after the official results announcement. To view the results go to section RESULTS .

Do I return a chip after the race?

Yes, you do. Chip needed to measure your time must be returned to the Organizer after the race.

Do I pay tax on the cash prize?

Yes, you do. Winners of cash prizes must pay tax in accordance with the tax law.

What is the procedure of handing over the cash prize?

In order to receive a cash prize into your bank account, you must fill in the necessary forms required by the Tax Office and send them to the Organizer’s within 30 days from the event’s finish date. Cash prizes are granted only into participants’ bank accounts via electronic funds transfer (they are not paid in cash) after receiving the minutes from the Commission against Doping in Sport.

Where in the Sport Fair held?

Poznań Sport Expo is held in hall 3 at the Poznań International Fair, next to the Marathon Office (14 Głogowska Street). For more information go to Section „Poznań Sport Fair”.

Do runners have an insurance guaranteed?

Each runner is insured against accidents during the race.

What are the prizes?

There are cash and in kind prizes in various categories. For more information go to section PRIZES.

Share your comments with us by email: info@marathon.poznan.pl. We appreciate the fact that you want to propose new ideas to improve the event, therefore we read all your emails. We look into complaints within 3 working days.

Can a person under the age of 18 participate in the Marathon?

No, he can’t. According to the Marathon Regulations, only runners who are at least 18 years old on 9 October 2016 can participate in the Marathon.

Are the medical check-ups required before the race?

No, they are not. Runners have to sign a declaration saying that they take part in the event on their own responsibility. Nevertheless the Organizer suggests doing a check-up before the race.

What is the gun time?

It is the time counted from the moment of the gun shot to the moment of crossing the Finish line by a runner.

What is the net time?

It is the time counted from the moment of crossing the Start line to the moment of crossing the Finish line by a runner.

Do runners have different bib numbers?

Yes, they do. Each runner gets his own bib number.

What is a chip?

Chip is an electronic devise that measures running time of a contestant. It is attached to the runner’s shoelace. It starts counting the time since the moment of crossing the Start line to the moment of crossing the Finish line by a runner. There are a few points along the route that register a runner’s time.
